Effective Opt-In Forms Are Valuable For Your Online Business



Your email list is a gold mine for your online business. The primary goal of any Internet marketer is to make his visitors to join his email list. How do you get people to sign up on your list?

Proper placement on a webpage – On which page of your website should you place your opt-in form? The best advice is to place it on every single page of your site. Every page of your website is a potential landing page. Be aware that anyone could opt into your list from whichever page they land on within your website. Some marketers have a better strategy – they add an opt-in form to the checkout process when a customer makes a purchase. You could add a check box to join your list to the checkout page of your shopping cart, ask the purchaser to opt-in to your list through a thank you page that is sent to your purchaser or you may include the request in an email autoresponder follow-up that is sent to your purchaser after a sale. You may also insert your opt-in form at the end of any article you might have at the website or your blog.

Suitable Location on a Page – Could you think of the best suitable location on your webpage for an opt-in form? Which location is most noted when a visitor first visits your page? Think for a minute! Of course, it has to be the upper right corner of a page. This spot is immediately visible on the screen so that the visitor would not need to scroll down searching for an opt-in form. For the opt-in form to be effective it needs to be noticed.

Make your opt-in form noticeable – You should place the opt-in form into a box with a bold outline or an eye-catching color such as yellow. Some marketers create a graphic icon that catches the visitor’s immediate attention.

Highlight opt-in benefits – Many visitors have the WIIFM (what’s in it for me) attitude. Unless there is a compelling reason your visitor may not be willing to give you his personal details such as his name and email address? In order to get this information, you should offer your customers attractive incentives such as a free download, free email newsletter, e-book, audio or video, etc.

Most of all in order to build trust and strengthen your opt-in success allow your visitor to know your privacy policy about how their information stays confidential and how their email address is used. An effective opt-in form and process could increase the size of your lists in a short time for long-term profits.
