Formatting Ad Emails, Ezines and Ebooks

The emails that you send through subscription list, ezines and autoresponders must be formatter well to catch the attention of the readers. There are many websites that start with the idea of using ebooks, ezines and autoresponders for their marketing activities, but they fall flat because of some reasons. This could because the email ad has not been drafted well. Most times ebooks and ezines just go into the recycle bin because they have too many mistakes in terms of grammer, spelling mistakes and old data.

Even if your product is great, it gets a bad name because of your carelessness in getting the marketing tool right. The marketing tool that you adopt reflects the quality and diligence of your team. If the customer is put off by the email ad, ezine or ebook, he/she may never return to your site fearing quality issues. A lot of times email ads and messages have a lot of grammatical errors and the customer may treat this mail as SPAM. Use of wrong words and shabby presentations will have the same result. Sometimes such emails are displayed in html format, which in some computers will not read well. Some email ads now include flash presentations. Make sure you are sending the right mails to the right target group.

Ebook and Ezine formatting are equally important and must be checked before it is put to use. A general reading and reviewing can solve this problem and save you, your product and your website from embarrassment. Surely you must have confidence in your product but don’t mention any factually wrong or outdated information. Any one can see through it easily. Try to build trust in the reader/customer and thus put forth all material facts. Get them edited by someone who has a decent command over the language. Also look plagiarism in case the articles are written by someone you hired.

In email formatting the common mistakes are wrong spellings, too long or too short messages and lack of clarity. Spellings can be corrected but the editor must restrict it to a number of words or at least use that many. Email formatting is crucial as the user must get impressed with the mail and this heavily influences the decision to buy a product. If you have looked after the content and the style of presenting the email ad, look for the following formatting tips before sending an email ad:

Make the content crisp and short. Don’t have more than 5 or 6 lines in a paragraph. The more the paragraph, the grumpier the user gets.

Maintain the font so that users using email clients can view the email properly. Many email clients use fixed width fonts like ‘Courier’. A non-fixed width font will look messy when viewed through the email client.

Maintain the line length of the email ad to 65 characters. Again most email clients like Eudora, Microsoft Outlook and Pegasus set the line length to default 65 characters. Hence line length is an important issue before you send the email out.

Also if the length of the text is really long, you may find some of the users reading it as one long line, that is because ‘Text warp’ is not available in some of the older email clients.
